Many are surprised and often relieved to hear that reaching plateaus, or even “stuckness”, in our personal development is normal and to be expected.  My counseling work takes a non-pathologizing, context-informed approach.  Frequently that involves some mix of understanding the past; growing into being more fully with ourselves in the present; and orienting towards the life we want to live, along the way developing the internal skills and peace of mind to meet challenges as they come.

This process calls for truth-telling, simple curiosity, and facing ourselves with courage and gentleness, sometimes even fierce gentleness.  Often the process benefits from skillful space-holders, and that is largely how I see my work as a counselor: holding space for you to find your ground, access your growth points, healing, and take up your place within the larger council of things.

My training is primarily from an integrative, systems-centered approach, that draws from the best of many worlds, including cognitive, somatic, and psychodynamic methods.  Meaning you’ll learn tools to undo limiting self-beliefs and thought patterns, to befriend the signals and inherent wisdom in your body, and that we’ll do so in the context of a caring, attuned therapeutic relationship, which itself can be a vehicle for growth and transformation.

Raised interculturally, multi-lingually, and a grandchild of immigrants and refugees, I hold deep reverence for each of our stories.  I welcome all of you to show up, as you are.  My background also includes a long-standing meditation practice, athletics, academic research, and a work history that includes non-profit as well as entrepreneurial work, social justice education work, and pastoral care; along with many an odd job over the years.  I received my counseling graduate degree from Adler University in Chicago.

Therapy is a significant and potentially transformative investment in oneself; I’d say even considering it can be beneficial.  Fit is important, and your readiness is important.  Feel free to contact me to set up a freely-offered initial consultation, where I invite you to share what you’re wanting to bring into counseling, and also to hear any more about my approach that you’d like to know.
